Are Modern Day Approaches to Dieting a Broken Concept?

My answer is definitely yes and here in short is why…

One diet to fit all whether it's low fat, low carb, Mediterranean, Atkins, Keto, Vegan, Time restricted eating, or whatever is not the answer – we are all individuals and have differing needs.

What we do all need is good nutrition for good health. How am I going to eat for the rest of my life that will impact my health and longevity and be absolutely delicious?

Some things to explore...

Forget restrictions: think adding in not taking away (seeds, veggies, fibre).

Fibre feeds and supports our gut biome and helps to slow down digestion which helps increase absorption of the vitamins and minerals – eat more fibre!

Rebalance the amount of animal fats you are eating: plants have lots of fibre and no saturated fats, all animal products have saturated fats and no fibre.

  1. Eat more plants of all types for diversity.

  2. Plant based is not being vegetarian or vegan, it just let plants hold the majority of space on your plate with animal products, just supporting.

  3. Think about swapping processed (white) carbohydrates out with whole food options to add in fibre. Think brown seedy bread, brown rice and pasta. Processing smashes the food up and makes the sugars more readily available and strips out all the healthy aspects of the food.

Change one thing – swap out one thing you are eating for something that supports your health from the inside and start your journey. Good nutrition is a balance, it is not absolute or perfect.
