Our annual Tournament takes place every May. This is our biggest event of the year and is open to everyone. The Tournament runs from May 27th to June 4th and like last year the Tournament will be run differently with all events being held on set days. If an event runs over 2 days, you must be available on both days.  You do NOT have to be available all week.

This is a fun tournament with events for all ages ranging from U8 to Vets’. All children’s events are in the daytime whilst adult events are on Bank Holiday Monday ( 29th May) evenings and weekends. There is no Finals Day. All draws will be either Elimination and Consolation, Round Robin or Compass so there will be lots of tennis! If you would like to play in the doubles events but do not have a partner, let Marian know and she will try and find you one! Entries close on May 17th 10am

  • Thursday June 1st U8(Red) Singles 9am – 11am, U10 Singles 9-12, U9 Singles  12-3, U9 Doubles 3-5, U10 Doubles 12-2.30  U18 Girls

  • Doubles 2.30pm  6pm Mixed Doubles

  • Friday June 2nd  9am Boys U11 Singles, 10am - 18 & U Boys Doubles 6pm Mixed Doubles

  • Saturday June 3rd  9am U14 Boys Doubles. Mens Singles, Vets Mixed

  • Sunday June 4th Mens Singles, Vets Mixed

Junior ARC Summer Tennis Open Report

The ARC Summer Open for Adults and Juniors resumed this year after a 3 year break. There were 26 different events, 9 days of competition, 200 entrants and competitors aged from 6 to 79!

The week began with U8 doubles and attracted 5 pairs, most of whom had never played doubles in their life! The enthusiasm was contagious and competitiveness ran high when 2nd place was decided by 0.07 of a decimal point! On a similar theme there were also U9 and U10 doubles. Monday saw 50 children U10 on site for all the singles events, these could not have happened without the help of our great team of Junior volunteers who were on court scoring:  Rupert, Nick, Adam, Harrison, James and Lucas.

Events for older juniors were well supported and the compass draws meant that everyone found their own level in the end. It was great to attract enough girls to hold both singles and doubles events this year. Children travelled from as far away as Bolton, Wales and Kent to compete here. A record 32 children from ARC entered too.

Adult ARC Summer Tennis Open Report

The adult tournament did not disappoint with its late night doubles of a very high standard, spectators wrapped in blankets and the toasties and drinks going down well. Again competition was fierce, both from the home club and visitors from away. It was great to see Lewie winning both Singles and Doubles titles.

If you missed out on all the fun this time, make sure you enter the next weeklong tournament which is the ARC Winter Open October 22nd to 30th – Entries close 13th October.

Remember all events are either Compass Draw or Round Robin so you get to play 3 or 4 matches and only need to commit one or 2 days/evenings!
