Provision of first class facilities to the community on a non-discriminatroy basis that is affordable and sustainable
Atlantic Racquet Centre aims to provide first class facilities to the local community for the playing of racquet sports and recreational activities.
Currently we have 6 brand new outdoor tennis courts all with floodlights and the four indoor tennis courts were completed in January 2018.
By the end of 2018 and subject to securing the rest of the funding we aim to complete the remainder of the indoor vision – an indoor sports facility comprising:
- 3 squash courts
- 4 roll out badminton courts
- Multiple table tennis tables
- Gym & Fitness hall
- Social area with licenced bar and food
- 'Changing Places' special disabled toilet facility
The facilities will be provided at an affordable level with our primary focus being on maximising utilisation. Any surplus income will be reinvested in the facilities for the benefit of the local community. This will be achieved through encouraging and utilising a network of volunteers to ensure costs are kept to a minimum both in the provision of the facilities and the future sustainability.
Our most significant barrier is funding - the rest of the project is estimated to cost £1.7m, of which we have £1.3m. We are seeking to fund this gap through a variety of sources - if you think you can help please contact us.
